The Australian Cinema Census

The Kinomatics team has been working with fliks.com.au on the recently launched online survey of Australian cinema and film watching behavior. The survey known as the ‘Cinema Census’ aims to find out how Australians are watching films and how issues like access to new technologies is changing film consumption behavior.

Fliks.com.au editor Steve Newall says: “While there is some data out there on viewing habits, there are obvious gaps on cinema audience opinions – both around the cinema going experience and the shift to watching movies online.”

The data collected from this first Australian cinema census survey will assist in understanding how film consumption patterns are changing. Such insights have the potential to aid the industry. Certainly, the longer term sustainability of the industry depends on distributors and exhibitors understanding how film audiences have changed and acknowledging that as a consequence of this industry business models may also need to adapt themselves.

The Kinomatics team will work with Fliks.com.au to analyse the data collected from the survey.

The survey takes around 3 minutes to complete and can be done at cinemacensus
